CPDmatch is a not-for-profit environmental and social website on which organisations advertise education relating to the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, loss of biodiversity and the resultant impacts on human health and healthcare systems. We aim for all healthcare professionals and those working in supplier industries to become knowledgeable and confident to innovate and communicate about the climate and environmental emergency and inspire others to act.

I am a Consultant Anaesthetist, Physician Environmentalist and Co-founder of Healthcare Ocean. I am passionate about equality and sustainability; building CPDmatch to help all those working in the healthcare value chain find the education they need to deliver actions, communicate effectively and inspire others to act and tackle the climate and environmental emergency.

Who are CPDmatch?
My career has been spent in the area of healthcare communications, producing materials designed to inform healthcare professionals and patients. I believe that education in the sector has a critical role to play in improving understanding of the enormous challenges posed by climate change and highlighting how our interventions can make a positive impact. CPDmatch has been created to facilitate the process of finding education tailored to the needs of the individual.

Why should healthcare professionals use CPDmatch?
Because finding climate change and sustainability education can be difficult and leads to missed opportunities and unnecessary travel. CPDmatch solves this problem by categorising events and providing filters for location, timing and cost ensuring relevant CPD is displayed. Searches can be saved and notifications received for new events whilst the virtual on-demand function shows what is available to access immediately.
Why should providers of sustainability education use CPDmatch?
CPDmatch is free to use for almost all organiations and we only charge a (very small) listing fee for education providers who have an associated for-profit product or service. Events and resources do not need external accreditation as we expect our visitors to make decisions based upon advertised content. No alterations to your existing platform is required and we 'signpost' healthcare staff to your own site to view details and book.
Climate and Environmental Literacy
The climate and environmental emergency is a health emergency and healthcare systems will become increasingly strained and vulnerable as we witnessed during Covid-19. For the millions of healthcare professionals to be confident in communicating these facts and inspire others, they must first be climate and environmentally literate and to become literate, they must be able to easily find and undertake the right education.
